6 Years!

Wow- it seems like 5 minutes ago I was writing the post about being married 5 years.  This year has been an incredible year!  Here's some of the highlights :) (since I'm a bullet person)

-Jesse has continued to excel at school.  He generally doesn't get anything less than an A in his classes and he works very hard.  He's also very excited/passionate what he's learning so he's always showing me something new that he's excited about.

-We decided to get healthy this year.  In April Jesse started a diet plan called Optifast and has lost 90 lbs.  In June I started a plan called Slimgenics and have lost 30 lbs.   Both of us have had our struggles with this but we're so happy with the change in how e feel :)   Plus our household is an Olsen Twin lighter ;)  We're hoping that over time I can lose another 35 and Jesse and can lose another 180.  We've got some work to but we're thinking that we'll be in great shape when kiddos come if we handle this now :)

-Jesse continues to do well at his job!  He helped recently make some process changes that really improved his group's productivity without making anyone person too busy :)  He's also been asked to work on some special projects!

-Work has been good for me too!  I was working along really hard at Eaton.  I had an opportunity to make a move to a job at Kaiser.  I'm excited because I think it's going to set me up with better benefits as we move towards having a baby.

So how're we going to celebrate?  Well today is actually not that crazy.  I have my quilting class this afternoon and Jesse was up late writing a project for one of his classes so he's tired!  We're going to lay low today and then take a drive into Rocky Mountain National Park tomorrow.  Hopefully we can get some good pictures.

So here's a picture of our wedding party :) from a great day 6 years ago :)

Thankful Thursday-Blessed!

I love mornings where you wake up and feel completely over-flowed with how good things are....Thankfully today is Thursday so I can blog about it :)

Today I am thankful for:
  • Continued changes in my body as I continue to lose weight- I'm down 14.5 lbs.  I have completely kicked my caffine addiction!  Hallajeah! I also had to change my pants twice this morning to be able to find something that fit well enough that I didn't look like I was wearing hammer pants....I'm so thankful to have that problem :)

  • Thankful to have choices...I don't really want to say more about this one, but knowing that God has put me where I am for the time I'm here and loves me so much that he gives me a choice about doing things makes my heart overflow!  Perhaps someday soon I'll be able to blog a little about this one.

  • I have the best husband- litterally mine is the best- don't care what you say mine is the best!  He loves me enough that he's willing to look at his life and make BIG changes to make our lives better.  I know he's going to be a great father some day.

Well that's the high points today, but needless to say I'm in a great mood!  Hope you have a great day !

What have we been up to?- June

We have been busy.  In the last month:

-We Both turned 30.  We celebrated my birthday by going to the BodyWorlds2 exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and then going out for Sushi with family and friends :)  Lots of fun!  We celebrated Jesse's with his parents at our house.   We watched the Big Leb*wski, which is a bowling classic but his folks hadn't seen it yet.  And yes of course we had cake :)

-We've been busy with work.  I closed another month (which is somewhat repetitive), but I keep trying to get faster and more accurate at what I'm doing.  Jesse's busy because business is picking up and members of his team have been on vacation.

-Jesse finished another class for school with a 98%!  He is such a superstar :)

-We've been working on making some lifestyle changes to eat better and be more active.

-I took a section of the CMA (Certified Management Accountant) exam and didn't pass....so I've been studying again to see if I can pass when I take it again next week :)  If at first you don't succeed, pick yourself up and try again :)

-We have managed to make good progress with our garden and we're getting some small veggies come in... and we're sort of keeping the weeds at bay :)

-We've also been taming the chaos that the pets cause, but what else is new :)  Grover has become an excellent moth hunter when he's not sleeping.

Hope all is well with you and yours, but that's what we've been doing for May/June 2010 :).

Thankful Thursday- My Marriage

Today is Thursday and although I've been sort of spotty this year with Thankful Thursday, but I couldn't let the day go by without saying how thankful I am for my husband and our marriage.

We've been married 5 years and I can't think of someone I'd rather spend my life with.  Jesse is exactly the person that is the very best for me and I'm so happy that we've been able to make a life together.  We have learned so much and grown together.

I'm thankful for his willingness to change and grow where he sees that it's needed and that he always offers to help me.  I'm thankful that he takes care of the cars and the electronics in our house!  I can't tell you how stressed out it makes me to get the car serviced and he always takes care of it.   I'm thankful that he makes me slow down so that I don't wear myself out.  I'm thankful that he loves to watch moves and that he has shown me movies that I wouldn't have watched otherwise.

Most of all I'm thankful to have a partner in life.  Someone who I want to talk to last thing at night and first in the morning.  Someone who I am happy to have kids with some day and someone who I will grow old with.

I'm so thankful for Jesse!

5 YEARS!

Woohoo! I've been waiting to write this post for a while. I'm celebrating 5 years of being married to my very best friend today! We've grown so much as individuals and as a couple over the course of our marriage. I'm excited to see where we will go as we move along in the next 50 years!

Given that I view this as sort of an electronic scrapbook, I thought I would share some great memories and pictures from our wedding day. We got engaged in July of 2003. We really wanted a nice outdoor wedding but neither one of us is hot weather people so we decided to have a fall wedding. The date got set and we spent a long time planning (we were engaged a total of 15 months!). I was sort of a perfectionist and poored over the invitations and the dresses and whatnot but I had to budget very carefully given that we paid for a lot of the wedding ourselves. We were able to get a couple of things that saved us a lot of money. 1) Jesse's step-sister Christine had a talent for photography and offered to do our pictures for free! 2) Jesse had worked at a venue for weddings while he was in high school and kept a good relationship with the family that owned it- so they gave us a great discount!

The day finally came. We had each asked special friends to stand up with us that day. Jesse asked his friends Mike Mosher, John Fildes and Dave Herbst. I asked my good friends JoAnna Lee, Corrilee Patterson (she's now Corri Kielmeyer) and Trisha Burbach. Each of the girls had played a special part in my life and I was so happy to have them with me. Sortly after I asked Trisha if she would be in the wedding she called me and said that she would be pregnant at the time of our wedding. It didn't ocurr to me but she was VERY pregnant the day of the wedding (her son Brody was born a month later).

Anyway, the morning of the wedding was beautiful and sunny! I got up from the bed and breakfast where we stayed. We got showered and had breakfast and then my good friend/college roommate, Tiffany did my hair. I got ready and we took pictures with the girls and my parents, godparents, etc. Finally, it was time fore the wedding to start (about 10 am). The bed and breakfast where we stayed was on the other side of the lake. We all hopped on the bus and went around the lake to the wedding site. I barely remember the ceremony but it was perfect. We finished and went over to the building for the reception. We were barely inside and it started raining (talk about perfect timing!!). We had brunch and then danced a little. We did father/daughter and mother/son dances. Jesse had forgotten to tell his Mom we wanted to do that so she looks very surprised in all the pictures!! The rest of the day went by in a blur, but it was magic like I'd to hoped.

Thankful Thursday

I've been very reflective this week and overall very thankful. I have so much to be thankful for and I'm also thankful that I keep having it brought to my attention.
  • I'm thankful for my routine in the morning. I get up fairly early (4:30 am) not because I really have to but because I love the sweet time because it's quiet and the animals are happy to have the routine together with me.
  • I continue to be very very thankful for my job. I spent today at a Sales/Use Tax class which although not the most exciting thing the world reminded me of a couple of things that made me happy. 1)I have balance with this job! I finally get to leave work at work and enjoy my time with my husband. 2) I don't have crazy commute (going to this class today took me 45 minutes in the car one way! and normally it only takes me 20 minutes when there is traffic). 3)People at my new job appreciate how hard I work and the changes I've made since I got there.
  • I'm thankful for Jesse. I fall more in love with him every day. I love how hard he works for us to have a good life!
  • Finally something small but so cool...I got to get my desk at work cleaned up and organized on Wednesday. I feel so much better about work when I can spend time to get things organized.
Happy Thursday and also the best part about Thursday is that tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!
