What do you do, when you can't "do" anything?

I'm a doer.  I like to do things for people when I can, make a meal, run an errand, do something concrete.  I'm not goood at words or finding the right thing to say.  It makes me UNCOMFORTABLE!  Words seem so insignificant when someone is going through something.  I can remember being in high school and losing a friend and being so mad when no one around me did anything more than say "I'm sorry".  It doesn't seem to take a lot to be "sorry" that something happened.  There's real hurt going on here!

I've had two seperate friends in the last week have a significant loss.  One friend lost a baby at 30 weeks and another lost her 19 year old SIL.  Both families have been heavily on my mind.  They've been on my mind but I don't have a way to do anything for them because although I'm aware of their loss and can communicate through the internet, they both live far away from me. The friend who lost her baby girl has been great about sharing about her loss through her blog.  I'm so thankful she has because it is giving me something to hang on to when I can't make sense of a terrible thing.  I am dumb-struck about why two families had to lose their daughters.  Why does this happen?

I'm looking for a way to help my friends.  I know prayer is the obvious one...but I want some thing concrete that I can do!  It's pretty insignifcant compared to the loss my friends are dealing with but I'm thinking of them often.
